Denman Island Museum & Archives

A lot has happened on Denman Island, starting with the Indigenous people who thrived here for centuries and who have claims on the Island to this day. Settlers, old farming families, remittance men, loggers and farmers, and latterly hippies and social activists have all shaped the heritage of Denman Island.

The Denman Island Museum and Archives (M&A) is a repository for records of non-government organizations on Denman Island as well as for the records and materials of individual Denman Islanders.  It is also within the mission of the Archives to advise and assist community organizations about the collection and preservation of their own records.

The M&A hosts public presentations, publishes articles and displays new exhibits each year.   Located at 1111 Northwest Road, at the north end of the Denman Activity Centre, the Museum is open to the public from 1:00 to 4:00  every afternoon from July 1st through Labor Day weekend, or by special arrangement.

Managed by a standing committee of the Denman Seniors and Museum Society (DSMS), the M&A is operated by local volunteers, and  is a member of the BC Museums Association, and the Canadian Museums Association, and participates in the Comox Valley Museums Association.

Volunteer participation is welcomed.  For more information, please visit the M&A website at https://denmanmuseum.ca/, or contact DD Fuchs at 250-335-1413 (tdfuchs@telus.net) or for archival information,  contact Barry Landeen at 250-335-0960 (blandeen@gmail.com).
